Impact After a boatload of money came in on Gaziev in recent days, Pericic went out and did exactly what he was supposed to do. He gave up a takedown and nearly three minutes worth of control time in Round 1, but as expected, all that grappling served to tire Gaziev out. He had to survive a few big blows late in the opening frame, but once the clock turned to Round 2, Pericic was able to open up on the feet, pouring on the volume and putting an exhausted Gaziev away. Pericic's age (32 in August) combined with his one-dimensional striking style suggests tougher days are ahead, but he's now 3-0 in the UFC with three knockout wins on his resume.

Impact Pericic has been absolutely dominant in his short-lived tenure at the UFC level, winning his two fights with dominant performances following the knockouts of Louie Sutherland and Elisha Ellison. At least on paper, it'd be fair to consider Pericic as the odds-on favorite for this one based on his recent track record and overwhelming power.

Remains perfect in UFC Pericic defeated Louie Sutherland via TKO (punches) at 1:48 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.

Impact It was another dominant performance from Pericic, his second in two UFC apparences, against a lower-level opponent. Brando used Sutherland's aggressiveness against him. He hammered him repeatedly following reckless entries and both tides it turned the tide of the brief fight. Sutherland eventually found himself on the mat eating unanswered shots from Pericic before referee Marc Goddard pulled the plug. The 31-year-old City Kickboxing product looks like a nice depth addition to the heavyweight division.

Next fight scheduled Pericic is scheduled to compete against Louie Sutherland in a heavyweight fight at UFC London on March 21, per Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.

Impact Pericic's next opponent, also a relatively recent debutant in the UFC, is looking to bounce back after a submission loss to Valter Walker. Pericic, who knocked out Elisha Ellison in September, is looking to improve his promotion record to 2-0 with a win in London.

Impact In a battle between two UFC newcomers with thin resumes, the guy that was fighting close to home and trains with one of the best teams in the sport (City Kickboxing) on a daily basis won in a rout. Pericic quickly bodied his way into a dominant position and unloaded countless unanswered blows which knocked Ellison unconscious and ended the fight. We should find out quickly whether Pericic has legitimate potential or if this was simply a case of him beating up on a lower-level opponent.

Impact Pericic is a 31-year-old heavyweight with just five professional fights under his belt, with all of them coming under regional, New Zealand-based promotions. He trains at a great gym in City Kickboxing -- the same place UFC staples like Israel Adesanya, Dan Hooker, Carlos Ulberg and Kai Kara-France call home. "The Balkan Bear" now gets a chance to debut in his home country against a fellow raw prospect, as Ellison is also a regional, debuting fighter with just six professional MMA fights to date.
