Added to UFC 333 card Volkov will face Rizvan Kuniev in a heavyweight bout at UFC 333 on Oct. 24, Marcel Dorff of Heavy On Sports reports.

Impact Volkov is one of the most experienced fighters not only in the division but in the UFC roster as a whole, with a 40-11-0 record as a pro. He's also trending in the right direction and has won six of his last seven fights, so on paper, the veteran should have a realistic chance to secure the win against Kuniev, who is 34 but doesn't have the same experience Volkov has.

Uses veteran savvy to pick up win Volkov beat Waldo Cortes-Acosta via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 328 on Saturday in Newark.

Impact It was a workman-like performance for Volkov, who blasted leg kicks and used his range to stay clear of big strikes from Cortes-Acosta. The Russian fighter was able to hurt "Salsa Boy" with a straight right hand in Round 2, but generally opted for safety against a fighter who came into the bout with a three-fight knockout streak. While giving a tired Volkov the third round seems a bit generous, he deserved the decision, and has now won six of his last seven fights. The heavyweight division remains wide open as we await the return of Tom Aspinall, meaning that Volkov could potentially work his way to a title shot if he keeps getting his hand raised. Volkov improved to 40-11-0 in professional MMA due to the victory.

Ready to fight Cortes-Acosta Volkov will take on Waldo Cortes-Acosta in a heavyweight bout at UFC 328 on May 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Impact Volkov is coming off a split-decision win over Jailton Almeida on Oct. 25 in his previous bout. The 37-year-old veteran will have a tough assignment here, as Cortes-Acosta has won three fights in a row and eight of his last nine. For what it's worth, Volkov has gone 2-1 in his three fights since the beginning of 2024.

Finds upset split decision win Volkov defeated Jailton Almeida via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 321 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Impact Volkov was on the short end of a horrendous split decision against Ciryl Gane in his most recent fight last December. He got back in the win column here, and deserved the victory, although the optics made it far from a guarantee he would leave with one. Volkov struggled with the grappling game of Almeida the entire fight. He gave up seven takedowns and 10:47 worth of control time. He was able to reverse position and do some damage in Round 1 to win that frame. Volkov got nothing going in Round 2, but he was able to land a handful of meaningful blows up against the fence early in Round 3 before being grounded. Those strikes were deemed by two of the three judges to be more important than the boring inactivity Almeida displayed from top position the rest of the way. Volkov, at age 37, could easily be next for the winner of the upcoming Tom Aspinall v. Gane title fight scheduled for later in the evening.
