Into first quarterfinal of year Eubanks won 6-1, 0-0 when Kei Nishikori retired in the second round of Houston on Thursday.

Impact Eubanks caught a break in the second round here as the No. 8 seed had to retire due to injury after just 24 minutes on court. The 28-year-old American will take it though as he improves to 3-4 on the year and moves into his first quarterfinal of 2025. Eubanks will face No. 4 seed Brandon Nakashima next, who he went 0-2 against in 2024.

Moves to R2 in Houston Eubanks defeated Rinky Hijikata in the round of 32 of the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship with a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 on Tuesday.

Impact Eubanks produced eight aces in the match, five more than his opponent. He converted four break points as well. Next up for Eubanks will be Japan's Kei Nishikori.
