AJ Styles vs. James Ellsworth Set for WWE SmackDown, December 6

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

After WWE TLC, James Ellsworth announced that he would face AJ Styles on the next episode of WWE SmackDown for the world title.

The conclusion of WWE TLC saw plenty of shenanigans. First, AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose tore the house down for about 25 minutes in a TLC match. They were going for the WWE World Championship, and went all out in and out of the ring, giving the fans at the American Airlines Center something they won’t forget.

Well, the moment that you may not have wanted to miss was the final seconds of the bout. This saw James Ellsworth turn on Ambrose, who he had been aligned with, and help Styles retain the world title. The fans in the arena were shocked as the show closed with plenty of chaos.

After the event ended, Ellsworth appeared on Talking Smack to explain his actions. He said that since he had the Phenomenal One’s number, he wanted him to win so he gets an opportunity at the world title. According to the Chinless Wonder, that will come on the Tuesday, December 6 episode of SmackDown.

Ellsworth had previously won an opportunity to face Styles for the world title.

The way how this dialogue came off sounded like Ellsworth is going to become a heel. This is despite the tweet, which makes it sound like what he did had been a one-night thing. By turning the 31-year-old heel, it makes him that one guy everyone will want to beat up on. He could cost people matches, align with the top stars, and make them hated by causing distractions.

The question will be how Styles vs. Ellsworth goes down on Tuesday night. Is Ambrose going to make his presence felt? Will the title match even happen?
