Shannon McCallum scored 24 points and Charlotte ended Hall of Famer Debbie Ryan's career at Virginia with a 79-74 victory in the WNIT quarterfinals Saturday.

Virginia had a 22-8 run and closed to within 62-60 with 3:57 to go, but Amanda Dowe and McCallum hit jumpers around a free throw by Virginia's Jazmin Pitts to make it 66-61. The Cavaliers again got within two at 66-64, but the 49ers' Kendria Holmes hit a 3-pointer.
