Yancy Medeiros submits Damon Jackson with nasty reverse guillotine choke
Yancy Medeiros got the UFC 177 pay-per-view card started the right way with a nasty reverse guillotine choke to put away previously undefeated prospect Damon Jackson in the second round of their lightweight fight.
Jackson stepped up and took the fight on extremely late notice, replacing Ohio native Justin Edwards who was forced off the card due to injury. Coming into the fight, Jackson was unblemished in his record and earned his nickname of 'The Leech' by sticking to opponents and never giving them a moment to breathe.
Unfortunately he couldn't hold onto Medeiros in the first round while the Hawaiian pop shotted him with punches every time they separated.
In the second round, Medeiros gained confidence and went after Jackson when they got locked up in the clinch and when the opening came he grabbed onto his opponent's neck and didn't leg go. Jackson tried to spin out of the hold, but instead he landed on his back with Mederios still holding on with his body pressing back on his neck.
The vice-like choke was too much and Jackson was forced to tap out, giving Medeiros the win while using the first ever reverse guillotine choke to finish a fight in the UFC.
While there's still plenty more action on the card tonight, Medeiros may have earned a 'Performance of the Night' with that creative and devastating submission to get his win.
