UFC 208 Results: Islam Makhachev Dominates Nik Lentz, Wins By UD
Islam Makhachev defeated Nik Lentz in a UFC lightweight bout by unanimous decision. Makhachev controlled a majority of the fight as two judges scored it 30-25.
In a fairly quiet fight, Islam Makhachev had full control in all three rounds, dominating Nik Lentz and earning the win by unanimous decision. A pair of judges scored the bout 30-25 as another scored it 30-27.
Lentz opened up with a little bit of momentum over Makhachev with a guillotine chokehold early in the first round. However, Makhachev managed to get out of it, and began to take control of the fight. Makhachev performed an impressive inside trip at one point to take the fight to the ground. The fight carried over to the second, with Makhachev dominating and controlling most of the round.
Makhachev opened the second round with several head kicks to try to gain the upper hand. Makhachev took the fight to the ground, staying on top of Lentz. Lentz attempted another guillotine chokehold, but Makhachev slipped out right away.

Throughout the low-key fight up to the end of the second round, the FS1 broadcast showed a graphic that listed how long each fighter had been in control for. Lentz was only in control of the fight for six total seconds.
In the third round, Makhachev again opened up with kicks, this time to the body. Lentz showed some aggression on the feet for the first time. Makhachev succeeded with a takedown, his fourth of the match in as many attempts.
With less than 90 seconds to go, Makhachev opened up with a myriad of strikes to the head. Lentz was able to extend the match by protecting himself, despite taking a tonne of damage during that sequence.
Makhachev showed little aggression in the fight. But with the majority of the fight being spent on the ground, Makhachev stayed on top of Lentz throughout the entire time the fight was taken to the ground.
Makhachev improves to an impressive record of 14-1 and a UFC record of 3-1. Lentz was undefeated in his two fights since returning to lightweight. But that streak was snapped in Brooklyn as his record drops to 27-8-2 (1).
The most entertaining part was after the fight when Joe Rogan asked Makhachev who he wants to fight. Makhachev, jokingly, called out Floyd Mayweather.
