UFC 207: Brandon Thatch Gets Last Chance Against Sabah Homasi
UFC welterweight Brandon “Rukus” Thatch will have one last chance to prove himself in the Octagon on December 30 against Sabah Homasi.
Adam Hill of the Vegas Review Journal first reported the addition to UFC 207.
After stepping into the Octagon with a boatload of hype surrounding him, Brandon Thatch has sputtered recently, losing three consecutive contests. His job will be on the line when he takes on TUF veteran Sabah Homasi.
Brandon Thatch is an excellent striker who started his MMA career with a 9-1 record. “Rukus” finished all of those victories with five knockouts and four submissions. Thatch lived up to the hype in his first two Octagon appearances, knocking out both opponents in under three minutes.
Thatch then headlined a card against former lightweight champion Benson Henderson. Although Thatch was the bigger man and was consistently landing more powerful shots, he eventually tired out, and Henderson submitted him in the fourth round.
After both of their opponents were injured, Brandon Thatch faced Gunnar Nelson in July of 2015. Nelson surprisingly knocked down, then submitted Thatch in the very first round of the pay-per-view main card. The striker returned to the Octagon in March and was submitted again by Siyar Bahadurzada.
Thatch was set to fight Erick Silva at UFC Brasilia but was forced out with an injury, now he will return four months later.
Sabah Homasi was a member of the American Top Team during the 22nd season of The Ultimate Fighter: ATT vs. Blackzilians. Homasi fought just once on the show, losing via decision. After the show, Homasi bounced back, going 3-1 with three (T)KOs, two under the Titan FC banner.

He received the UFC call when Sean Strickland pulled out of his main card fight with Tim Means in August. Homasi took Means down twice in the fight, but was simply overwhelmed by the pressure game of the clinch striker.
UFC 207 is headlined by the return of Ronda Rousey, as she takes on Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title. The event takes place on December 30 in the T-Mobile Arena of Las Vegas. Mike Pyle is also expected to fight Alex Garcia that night.
