UFC 206: Jon Jones Picks Daniel Cormier Over Anthony Johnson
Jon Jones has made it very clear via his return to social media that he is still the king of the UFC’s light-heavyweight division.
That didn’t stop him from picking who he thinks will win the next 205-pound title fight at UFC 206. Jones went onto Twitter on Friday and picked bitter rival and current champion Daniel Cormier to defeat challenger Anthony Johnson.
The rivalry between Jones and Cormier has been very public both in social media and in person. The two squared off during a face-off at the UFC 178 media day on Aug.3rd, 2015.
Now, with Jones out of competition while he squares off with the Nevada State Athletic Commission due to testing positive before UFC 200, he made his pick for who will be the champ following the rematch between Cormier and Johnson.
Now the tweet doesn’t mean that Jones is rooting for his rival Cormier but just that he feels that DC has the advantage.
If I had to bet I would go with DC, his overall game is more complete https://t.co/PhyhxkzK5c

I would much rather fight Rumble for the title. That way I could clear the division and get my belt back at once https://t.co/aZJKjuUsP7

Jones (22-1) last fought at UFC 197 where won a decision and the interim light-heavyweight belt over Ovince St. Preux who stepped in on short notice for the injured Cormier. Jones was then booked to take on Cormier at UFC 200 where he was flagged by USADA and pulled from the fight. Anderson Silva stepped in on two-days notice to take on Cormier.
Cormier (18-1) last fought at UFC 200 and is scheduled to take on Johnson on Dec.10 in Toronto. The fight is a rematch from UFC 187 where Cormier defeated Johnson via submission to win the vacated light-heavyweight title.
