On Saturday, November 12, reigning UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor looked to become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts in two separate wight classes at the same time when he challenge lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205. The entire event went down at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Here is how the fight unfolded, round-by-round, including FanSided’s scoring of the fight.
Round 1: In a surprising move, both men touched e gloves to kick off the fight. Immediately taking the center, McGregor looked to establish his range early as Alvarez danced around from the outside. As he continued to paw at the champion before being dropping Alvarez with a powerful left hand. Escaping before he could absorb any more damage, Alvarez immediately leapt back to his feet. After another feeling out process, McGregor snapped in another straight left, sending Alvarez toppling back to the canvas. Working from the top, McGregor jumped onto his opponent before back away to let him back up. As Alvarez rose to his feet he ate another left hook between the eyes. With 10 seconds left in the fight, McGregor motioned for Alvarez to bring it before planting a straight kick to the body. FanSided scores it 10-8 McGregor

Round 2: After putting together essentially zero offense in the opening frame, Alvarez looked to pick up the pace early put walked right into another straight left from McGregor. Mocking his opponent, McGregor folded his hands behind his back as he jawed the champion. While Alvarez landed a handful of lefts, McGregor responded with another left. Alvarez looked to swing the momentum into his favor by pushing the challenge into the fence. After breaking free, McGregor followed up with another left t toe h body before dropping Alvarez and finish him with strikes and earning his second UFC title.
