Tyron Woodley meets Kelvin Gastelum in UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz co-main event

Fresh off a huge first round submission win over the weekend, Kelvin Gastelum burst into the top 10 rankings for the welterweight division. Now, he'll have a chance to move even further up the ladder when he faces Tyron Woodley in the co-main event for UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz.

UFC officials announced the new matchup Tuesday.

Gastelum moved to a perfect 10-0 with a win over Jake Ellenberger at UFC 180 in Mexico City last weekend. The former "Ultimate Fighter" winner wasted no time putting Ellenberger down in the first round before locking up a fight-ending rear naked choke submission.

The win moved Gastelum to 5-0 in the UFC and up to No. 7 in the UFC welterweight rankings.

He won't get an easy pass to crack the top five, however, because Tyron Woodley isn't looking to give up his spot any time soon.

Woodley (14-3) returns to the Octagon after a stunning first-round finish over Dong Hyun Kim in his last fight. Woodley has gone 3-1 over his past four bouts inside the Octagon, with his lone loss coming to top welterweight contender Rory MacDonald.

With a powerful punch and a serious wrestling background, Woodley will give Gastelum everything he can handle and more.

The new welterweight matchup will be featured in the co-main event slot for UFC 183, headlined by former middleweight champion Anderson Silva in his return to action against Nick Diaz.
