Tim Kennedy wants to make UFC return against Lyoto Machida

Published Apr. 22, 2015 9:00 p.m. ET

Just a couple months ago, UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy declared publicly that - though he wasn't retired - he had no interest in taking more fights. The military veteran last fought and lost via controversial TKO to Yoel Romero in September at UFC 178.

The loss snapped a four fight win streak for the 35-year-old. UFC Tonight broke the news Wednesday night that Kennedy is no longer satisfied with leaving his excellent MMA career on that sour note and still has the itch to fight.

According to the report, Kennedy wants a "loser leaves UFC" fight against Lyoto Machida. Machida, of course, was choked out by number one middleweight title contender Luke Rockhold at Fight Night New Jersey.

Kennedy reportedly want to fight "The Dragon" in the early fall. Before that can happen, however, Kennedy is set to travel to South America to film a television show where he catches war criminals.

That sounds like heavy stuff, but potentially entertaining. Of course, we know that Kennedy is capable of entertaining outside of the UFC Octagon.

Stay tuned for updates on this story as they develop.
