Stipe Miocic vs. Mark Hunt set as May 10 Australia Main Event
Stipe Miocic will head to Mark Hunt's adopted home to fight the South Pacific fighting hero in the main event of a UFC Fight Night, May 10. The UFC announced Monday that Miocic vs. Hunt will top a card in Adelaide, Australia, in a heavyweight contender clash scheduled for five rounds.
Ticket information has not yet been announced for the card, but a number of other fights on it have been. TUF winner Robert Whittaker will take on Brad Tavares, near his home of Sydney.
Aussie Anthony Perosh will fight American Sean O'Connell, and undefeated lightweight Jake Matthews out of Australia will fight rangy Texas fighter James Vick. Seeohee Ham will make the trip from Korea to Australia to challenge Bec Rawlings on her home turf in a strawweight battle.
Two more exciting female strawweights will also lock up on the undercard as Alex "Astro Girl" Chambers fights the tough Kailin Curran. Back to the main event, both Hunt and Miocic are coming off of tough losses where they still managed to impress.
In November, Hunt fought Fabricio Werdum on short notice for the UFC heavyweight interim title and looked to be on his way to finishing the Brazilian before getting caught and knocked out in the second round. Miocic fought former champion Junior Dos Santos for five epic rounds in a fight of the year candidate, and lost a razor-close fight via decision.
After getting a sense of how they can do at the very highest levels of the UFC's heavyweight division, both Hunt and Miocic will now try to get back on the winning track, against one another.
