Ross Pearson puts Sam Stout away with crushing left hook KO
Ross Pearson kept a night filled with finishes going as he put Sam Stout down and out with a crushing left hook in the second round to win in the UFC 185 preliminary main event in Dallas on Saturday.
Pearson was stalking Stout throughout the first round, constantly launching big punches at the Canadian's head as he backed straight up and showed little defense trying to move out of the way.
Stout was able to counter Pearson during a few moments of the opening round, but it was clear once the second round started, the Englishman found his range and it was only a matter of time before he landed the punch to put an end to the fight.
The fighters both started throwing, but it was Pearson who landed with a perfectly timed counter left hook that sent Stout crashing to the mat. A few more strikes followed, but it was already over as Pearson put a stamp on his performance with an impressive knockout victory.
"That's always what I look for, the big left hook," Pearson said. "It was just timing and speed. I'm the best puncher in the lightweight division. I've just got to put my hands on them."
Pearson moves to 19-8 overall and gets back on the winning track after suffering a loss in his last trip to the Octagon to Al Iaquinta.
