It looks like a fight between fan favorites Robbie Lawler and Donald Cerrone has been confirmed for UFC 205 in New York City

The welterweight clash between former champion Robbie Lawler and fan favorite Donald Cerrone has officially been booked for uFC 205 in New York City.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the earlier reports during an interview CBS Cleveland radio host Anthony Lima.

Lawler (27-11) most recently saw Tyron Woodley walk away with his belt after being dispatched early in the first round of their main event title fight at UFC 201 in July. Prior to this setback. ‘Ruthless’ successfully defended his title with a hard-fought decision win over Carlos Condit at UFC 195 in January. Both men earned Fight of Night while finding themselves on the shortlist for Fight of the Year.

This marked the second straight performance from Lawler to garner such accolades. He previously finished Rory MacDonald early in the fifth round with a violent TKO in co-main event of UFC 189. Once again, the two were awarded Fight of the Night for their efforts, while earning several Fight of the Year awards.

Cerrone (30-7) has yet to taste defeat since making the jump up to welterweight. In his most recent effort, ‘Cowboy’ starched veteran Rick Story at UFC 202 earlier this month. This marked the third straight stoppage win for Cerrone. He previously submitted Alex Olivera at UFC Fight Night 83 before walking away with an impressive TKO over Patrick Cote at UFC Fight Night 89.

These two wins got Cerrone back on track after suffering 66-second TKO loss to former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in their title fight at UFC on FOX 17. This marked his second loss to dos Anjos, prompting the move up in weight classes. Prior to this setback, Cerrrone had rattled off eight straight wins as a member of the UFC’s 155-pound division. He currently holds 23 career stoppage wins, including 16 by way of submission.

UFC 205 will go down on November 10 Madison Square Garden in New York City. This historic event will mark the UFC’s first event in the State of New York.
