Mike Brown still wants one more fight but coaching is his main focus now

Former WEC champion Mike Brown still wants one more fight before he calls it a career, but a recent injury pushed back plans he had to return in August.

At 38 years of age and more than 30 pro fights, Brown has put in plenty of work over the years including a stint as champion in the featherweight division where he picked up two wins over Urijah Faber as well as Leonard Garcia before turning the belt over to Jose Aldo in 2009.

Since then, Brown has struggled to stay healthy in the face of a growing 145-pound division although he has managed to go 2-1 in his last three fights although he's only fought twice in the last two years.

In the mean time, Brown has taken on coaching duties at his long time camp, American Top Team, where he's working with a slew of top fighters including Hector Lombard and Robbie Lawler and the attention to his own fight future has started to wane.

Still according to a report via UFC Tonight, Brown had targeted the upcoming August 16 show in his home state of Maine for a return to the Octagon, but torn knee cartilage dashed his hopes of competing on the card.

Brown would like to close out his 13-plus year career in the UFC, but as coaching continues to dominate more and more of his time, the further away he is getting from actually returning to the cage.
