Lauzon draws Danzig on Dec.14

Joe Lauzon and Mac Danzig are both Ultimate Fighter alumni who have found moments of success in the UFC, but are currently mired in two-fight losing streaks. They’ll attempt to find the win column against each other. The duo will meet at UFC On FOX 9 on Dec. 14, the promotion announced on Tuesday night.

Lauzon had never before lost two in a row until his current stretch, dropping decisions to Jim Miller and more recently, Michael Johnson. The latter fight took place in Boston, just miles away from Lauzon’s hometown of East Bridgewater.

The popular fighter who has been in the organization since 2006 is 22-9 overall.

Danzig (21-11-1) has had rocky stretches in the past, including a three-fight skid from 2008-’09. The inability to find consistency has plagued him throughout his UFC run. Aside from winning TUF’s season 6, he’s gone just 5-7 in 12 Octagon bouts. His last win came in April 2012, when he earned a unanimous decision over Efrain Escudero.

UFC On FOX 9 takes place at Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena. The event features a UFC lightweight championship match between Anthony Pettis and Josh Thomson, along with a battle between ranked bantamweights Urijah Faber and Michael McDonald, and a featherweight showdown pitting contenders Chad Mendes and Nik Lentz.
