Kikuno to the UFC
The UFC will add another veteran Japanese fighter to its roster as DREAM and DEEP veteran Katsunori Kikuno has signed a deal with the promotion.
Sources close to the fighter's camp confirmed to FOX Sports on Monday that Kikuno recently signed with the UFC and will debut sometime in the coming months.
A veteran of more than 30 professional fights, Kikuno has been a mainstay on the Japanese fight scene for the past eight years competing against some of the best lightweights in the world. He is a former DEEP lightweight champion and the 2009 DEEP lightweight tournament champion as well.
Kikuno grew up with a karate discipline and trained his MMA under former UFC fighter Tsuyoshi Kosaka, who some might remember as the first fighter to ever hand Fedor Emelianenko a loss in his career.
Kikuno is a dangerous striker with dynamite in his hands, and currently rides a five fight win streak with four of those ending by either TKO or submission. He could be a major addition to the UFC's roster as they continue to expand further into Asia in 2014.
