Justin Scoggins vs. Ian McCall scrapped from UFC 201
Weight cutting issues have forced Justin Scoggins to pull out of his fight at UFC 201 against Ian McCall on Saturday night.
UFC officials confirmed the news late Thursday night.
Scoggins informed the UFC on Thursday that he would be unable to make the contracted weight at 125 pounds for his scheduled bout against McCall and thus the bout was scrapped. McCall will still make weight on Friday and act as an alternate should anyone else at flyweight not be able to compete on Saturday night.
The flyweight fight between Ryan Benoit and Fredy Serrano has been bumped up to the UFC 201 main card taking place on Saturday night in Atlanta.
After he dropped out of the bout due to the weight cutting fiasco, Scoggins sent a simple message out on his Twitter account to confirm his move to a new division.
Scoggins was always a very large fighter for the flyweight division, but it looks like the weight cuts finally caught up to him and now he'll be forced to compete at 135 pounds instead.
UFC 201 will move forward with 11 total bouts on Saturday night headlined by the welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley.
