Jordan Mein is coming out of retirement after just one year
After retiring from the sport of MMA in August of 2015, Jordan Mein has revealed his intentions to fight again — and he wants to fight in the UFC.
Jordan Mein was a top prospect in the MMA world, and his retirement from the sport caught many people off guard. Holding notable wins over decorated MMA fighters like Dan Miller and Mike Pyle, he was a devastating striker who could cause trouble for any fighter in that department. He was also very exciting and always came to fight.
Facing off against Thiago Alves at UFC 183 in January of 2015, he dominated the first round by lighting Alves up on the feet and hurting him on multiple occasions. But in the second round, Alves caught him with a vicious body kick and hurt him badly, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
A couple of months later, Mein announced that he was retiring from the sport at the very young age of 25 years old. The main reason he gave was the wear and tear on his body.
But on Tuesday, news emerged that Mein is coming out of retirement and wants to fight again, preferably in the UFC. MMA Fighting has the scoop.
Mein’s father said to the site, “I am happy he is enjoying training and wants to fight again. I feel he is one of the best out there. As long as he is having fun and feels healthy, I will support and help him any way I can.”
As stated earlier, Mein is a very exciting fighter, and with the welterweight division being so stacked in its current state, it’s going to be very interesting to see just how well he performs against some of the best fighters in the sport. Of course, the process may be long, considering that he has been retired for over a year now and hasn’t competed in almost two years, which means that he’ll have join the drug-testing pool created by USADA, which is a four-month process.
