Jon Jones denies homophobic slurs
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones says his Instagram account was hacked and it wasn't him who posted homophobic slurs on a man's photos.
A Swedish man accused Jones of writing derogatory remarks on several of the man's Instagram photos Tuesday. The man said he was trolling Jones on Twitter, which prompted Jones to retaliate by calling him things like "f**" on Instagram.
Jones later tweeted that he had just gotten a new phone and his account was hacked. Jones' manager Malki Kawa told MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani that Jones' phone was stolen.
Bloody Elbow has screen shots of the slurs posted from Jones' account. Middle Easy was the first to report about the incident. A UFC official said the organization would not be making a statement on the matter.
Jones appeared to post a photo on Instagram after the derogatory posts were made on the Swedish man's pictures, but it's difficult to know that for sure.
On Monday, Jones was asked if the UFC was ready for an openly gay male fighter in an interview with FOX Sports. Jones said he preferred not to answer the question and said he really had not thought about it.
Jones will defend his title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 172 on April 26 in Baltimore. He'll likely be asked a lot of questions about this social media mess in the build-up to the bout.
