John Moraga, Justin Scoggins meet in flyweight contender bout in Connecticut

Here's a fight all about bouncing back.
John Moraga and Justin "Tank" Scoggins will meet at UFC Fight Night: Souza vs. Mousasi on Sept. 5 in Connecticut in a bout between two flyweights looking to carve out a new path in the division. The UFC announced the fight had been verbally agreed to Saturday. The card will air on FOX Sports 1.
Moraga (14-3) has already climbed close to the top of the ladder. He earned a title shot against champion Demetrious Johnson last July, falling by submission in the fifth round. Since then, the 30-year-old has fallen on some difficult times. He won a very close split decision against Dustin Ortiz in January and was knocked out by John Dodson in June. Still, the Arizona native remains ranked No. 5 among flyweight contenders.
Scoggins (9-1) doesn't have nearly the amount of experience as Moraga. But the two share a common opponent in Ortiz. Scoggins fell to him in a tight split decision last month at the TUF 19 Finale, marking his first career loss. Before that, "Tank" had won two in a row since coming to the UFC, over Richie Vaculik and Will Campuzano. At 22, Scoggins is still regarded as a blue-chip prospect, though he is not currently ranked in the top 15. A win over Moraga would certainly get him there.
UFC Fight Night at Foxwoods is headlined by a middleweight contender bout between Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Gegard Mousasi. Alistair Overeem will also meet Ben Rothwell on the card.
