Jeremy Stephens pulls off TKO after back-and-forth war with Dennis Bermudez

Jeremy Stephens started slow but finished big with a jumping knee that put Dennis Bermudez on the canvas before a few more punches sealed the win for the Iowa native.

Stephens was coming back from two straight losses and, while both fights were exciting affairs, he came up short on both accounts. He promised better results for his fight on Saturday at UFC 189 against Bermudez and he delivered and then some.

It didn't take long for Bermudez to look for a takedown to start the fight and apply his wrestling to keep Stephens on the defensive.

An accidental head butt between the fighters opened a huge cut over Stephens' right eye as well, and it looked like things were going to go south for him in a hurry.

Stephens made it through Round 1 and came out guns blazing in Round 2 with a big knockdown on Bermudez that changed the course of the fight. Stephens started to find confidence in his hands and he began to crack Bermudez with hard shots throughout the five-minute session.

Finally in Round 3, with Bermudez applying pressure and trying to get the fight against the cage, Stephens uncorked a beautiful jumping knee that nailed his opponent directly on the chin.

Bermudez crashed to the canvas, and it only took Stephens a few more punches to finish a non-stop action fight that had the Las Vegas crowd on its feet.  Stephens now moves back into the win column while securing another finish to add to his impressive career resume.
