Jake Ellenberger vs. Jorge Masvidal added to TUF 24 Finale
The Ultimate Fighter 24 finale is stacked with great fights, and now a welterweight war between Jake Ellenberger and Jorge Masvidal has been added.
This season of The Ultimate Fighter is a very interesting one, to say the least. This season is the first season where the winner of the entire show will go on to face none other than the UFC champion at the show’s finale. With the focus on the flyweights, flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is patiently waiting for the next contender to rise up and face him in December.
Other than the title fight in the main event, the two coaches from the show, Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo, will throw down at the finale as well, which will most likely determine the next contender, and the winner will potentially face Johnson or The Ultimate Fighter challenger for the flyweight title.
There are also some solid fights to look forward to, such as Gray Maynard vs. Ryan Hall and Elvis Mutapcic vs. Anthony Smith. On Wednesday, another entertaining fight was added to the card. MMA Junkie reported that Jake Ellenberger will face off against Jorge Masvidal at the TUF 24 finale in a welterweight bout.
If there’s anyone who’s motivated to get another win, it’s Ellenberger. His back was against the wall in his last fight against Matt Brown. Prior to getting booked against him, the UFC informed Ellenberger that he was cut from the promotion, but he flew out to meet with them and asked them for one more shot. He definitely made the most of it, finishing Brown in the first round.
Masvidal was scheduled to face off against Kelvin Gastelum, but Gastelum will now be facing Donald Cerrone at UFC 205 in New York. Initially, he wasn’t very happy with that decision to rebook Gastelum with a different opponent, but he’s always game to fight and will be looking to get another victory after a dominant one over Ross Pearson.
The Ultimate Fighter 24 finale will go down on Dec. 3 at The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
