Great MMA Debate podcast: Gina Carano and Johny Hendricks highlight a packed show
The Great MMA Debate Podcast is back with another huge show with guests including UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks, Steve Carl, Donald Sanchez and the full interview with former Strikeforce and Elite XC star Gina Carano.
If you're curious where Carano has been lately, she's walking red carpets and starring in movies like her upcoming film 'In the Blood' but the itch to return to fighting is still in her blood.
Carano opens up about her latest acting role and opens the door to a potential return to fighting with interest in competing in the UFC still on the table.
"I've never retired. I've never officially said that," Carano said. "For some reason a part of me has always kept it open. I don't know, there's a certain part of me that things if circumstances were right, and I could keep doing what I'm trying to make my future into, that's an ideal world. If circumstances were right, you never know. I'm very open to it."
New UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks also joins the show to talk about his win over Robbie Lawler and what it means to sit as the king of the division being chased by a huge list of contenders.
World Series of Fighting champion Steve Carl stops by to discuss his upcoming fight against UFC outcast Rousimar Palhares, and if the Brazilian's tendency to hold onto submissions for too long is a real concern to him in their fight.
"There should be really no question in anybody's mind if they have a brain, the guy's dirty," Carl said about Palhares. "He not only did that in the (Mike) Pierce fight, but he's been suspended more than once for doing that in fights and then you go back to his Brazilian jiu-jitsu career and he's done it to dozens and dozens of people. Something's wrong in this guy's head obviously."
Upcoming featherweight prospect Donald Sanchez joins the show as well to tell about some of his horror stories of getting mixed up with the wrong promoters and a bad manager that never had his best interests at heart. Definitely a cautionary tale for young fighters who can learn from Sanchez's past.
Finally, the debate opens up on today's show discussing the latest from the Dan Henderson vs. Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua rematch as well as the potential for a Gina Carano return.
