Drake obviously sides with McGregor in UFC 196 main event

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor's abilities in and outside of the Octagon have helped take the world's biggest fight promotion to all-new levels. The Irishman helped break multiple attendance records in 2015 as the sport crossed the $600 million revenue mark for the first time in its 21-year history.

That type of notoriety is sure to bring in a whole new segment of fans that may have never been interested in the sport before, including athletes and celebrities alike.

NASCAR superstars Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and Danica Patrick are scheduled to attend UFC 196, undoubtedly one of the biggest cards of the year, and Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio is also expected to make an appearance.

And now, the biggest name in rap has taken to Instagram to make his pick for the main event.

Drake, aka Aubrey Graham, tipped his hat to McGregor while teasing his upcoming album "Views from the 6," which is scheduled to drop in April. The platinum-selling artist is no stranger to aligning himself with the biggest and brightest in sports. He's laced up his sneaks during a Kentucky basketball shoot-around, is a "global ambassador" for his hometown Raptors and even popped bottles and ate pizza in the club with LeBron and D-Wade.

So Drake siding with McGregor obviously means the Irishman has made it.

As the UFC continues to grow on the shoulders of superstars like McGregor and Ronda Rousey, its influence will continue to know no bounds.
