Donald Cerrone vs. Myles Jury shifted to co-main event at UFC 182
Following a move to put Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano on the UFC 184 card in Los Angeles, there was a vacancy to fill for the UFC 182 show on Jan. 3 in Las Vegas.
The UFC has opted to move the Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone vs. Myles Jury fight into the co-main event slot for the upcoming pay-per-view in 2015 to headline alongside the highly anticipated light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.
UFC officials confirmed the fight Thursday.
Cerrone facing Jury has long been rumored, but only this week did the fight actually come to fruition. The original plan was for the two lightweights to square off as part of the UFC Fight Night card taking place in Boston on Jan. 18 to act as co-main event for the featherweight bout between Conor McGregor and Dennis Siver.
With the title fight between Rousey and Zingano getting moved to late February, it left a slot open that had to be filled in quick order for the upcoming show in early January.
Enter Cerrone vs. Jury.
The two top 10 ranked lightweights will face off with the winner moving close to a potential title shot in 2015. The fight takes place as the new co-main event for UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier in Las Vegas on Jan. 3.
