Former UFC flyweight title challenger John Dodson has been forced out of his upcoming fight at UFC on FOX: Johnson vs. Benavidez 2 after suffering an injury in training just over a week out from his scheduled bout against Scott Jorgensen.

UFC officials confirmed the news on Tuesday.

Dodson was returning to action after a Knockout of the Night performance in his last bout where he bested UFC newcomer Darrell Montague at UFC 166 in Houston.

His return at UFC on FOX was a chance for Dodson to get back into the title race at 125 pounds, but now that plan has been derailed for now as he will have to go back on the sidelines until his injury heals.

According to sources close to Dodson's camp it was a knee injury that forced him out of the fight, but there's no word yet on the severity or how long he might be out of action.

Scott Jorgensen is now left without an opponent with 10 days until the fight card takes place as UFC officials scramble to find a replacement to step in and take the bout on short notice.
