Dan Henderson would fight again for "the right money"

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Coming off of his loss to Michael Bisping at UFC 204, Dan Henderson is unhappy with the decision of the fight.  He would consider a third fight with Bisping if he was compensated.

Leading up to the much-anticipated rematch between Dan Henderson and UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, the 46-year-old Henderson stated that this would be his last fight whether he won or lost. Following the promise of retirement, Henderson now seems to be singing a different tune. Yesterday, Henderson himself took to Champions.co to write about his feelings following the loss and express his desire to settle the settle the score with a third bout against the champ.

Henderson (32-15) lost the rematch with Bisping via unanimous decision. Many, including Henderson himself, saw the fight going the other way at the end of the fifth round.  Henderson wrote, “I’m pretty pissed about it”. He admitted that he just recently watched the fight, and believes himself the winner. Henderson saw himself winning the first two rounds and also the fifth, in the official scorecard Bisping was given the last three rounds by all three judges.

Dan Henderson wrote that had he not promised retirement leading up to this fight and that “the fans would have demanded a trilogy.” Henderson went on by saying “Hell, I’m pretty pissed off right now, and for the right money, I’m pretty sure I could be talked into the rubber match, not that I think he would accept another invitation to get beat up again.”

There is no talk at this time from either the UFC or the champion Bisping to imply that another fight between these bitter rivals will happen. The UFC middleweight division is filled to the brim with talent, especially in the top ten. There are currently two fights set up that could potential act as title eliminators.  Luke Rockhold will face Jacare Souza in Melbourne on November 26, and Chris Weidman will fight Yoel Romero in NYC at UFC 205 on November 12. Most likely it will be one of the winners of these fights that will have the next shot at the middleweight belt.
