Dan Henderson vs. Hector Lombard in the works for UFC 199
Dan Henderson won't get to fight on Saturday night as was expected, but he won't have to wait too long for his return to the Octagon.
The veteran middleweight competitor is now expected to face Hector Lombard at UFC 199 on June 4 in Los Angeles.
Sources close to the contest confirmed the news to FOX Sports on Thursday following an initial report from Sherdog.com.
Henderson's fight this weekend was cancelled when his opponent Lyoto Machida was forced off the card after admitting using a banned substance.
While Machida hasn't faced any discipline yet, his admission of guilt was enough for UFC officials to yank him from the card. With the news coming only three days before the fight, there was no other choice but to pull Henderson from the show as well.
Henderson now will face Lombard, who returns to the middleweight division after four fights at 170 pounds.
Lombard has fought for most of his career at 185 pounds, but found a big size disparity once he signed with the UFC and started facing much larger opposition at middleweight.
Unfortunately for Lombard, the weight cut to get down to the 170-pound limit was just too much and now he'll venture back up to middleweight
UFC 199 goes down on June 4 from The Forum in Los Angeles with middleweight champion Luke Rockhold defending his belt against Chris Weidman in the main event.
