CM Punk: 'Brock Lesnar has offered to help me' train in UFC

Phil "CM Punk" Brooks has only been training MMA for about a month, but he's been doing so at the powerhouse Roufusport gym with the likes of Anthony Pettis, Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley. "Punk" also has the support of fellow WWE star, and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

According to an interview he did with WISports.com, Brooks has spoken with his friend Lesnar, and the popular former NCAA wrestling national champion is in his corner. "I've talked to him and he's offered all his help, even if it's just bug him with a stupid question," Brooks said.

"It's cool to know [Lesnar] supports me. He's a good guy to know, I think."

Brooks went on to estimate when he'd be ready to take his first MMA fight, in the UFC. Though he isn't sure when it will happen, he's got a timeline for when he and his coaches will evaluate his progress and make a decision.

"I've been here a little over one month now," he explained.

"Five more months we're going to sit down and we're going to talk, and we're going to see where my weight's at, we're going to see how I feel. It's no longer just up to me. It's up to my coaches."

Lesnar, of course, has been rumored to be interested in returning to the UFC once his current WWE contract is up, in March. Only time will tell if the former champ decides to give competition another go.

As for a possible eventual return to wrasslin', Brooks says he's focused completely on MMA. "I don't think about it at all," he claimed.

"I don't want to say one track minded, I'm very focused and goal-oriented. I did everything I could in pro wrestling. I don't like going backwards. I have, what I think is, a very bright future."
