Cerrone vs. Dunham added to UFC 167
Donald Cerrone and Evan Dunham will hunt for a return to the win column when the lightweights square off at UFC 167 in Las Vegas.
The fight, first reported by the Las Vegas Sun, has been confirmed by UFC officials.
Ironically, both Cerrone and Dunham are looking to rebound after losses to the same opponent, the surging Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos, who won a decision over Dunham in May, and then came back in August to defeat Cerrone, also by decision.
While Dunham has been the longer-tenured fighter in terms of Octagon experience, Cerrone has crept further up the rankings over time, although he’s lost two of his last three.
Cerrone (20-6, 1 no contest) last earned a win against K.J. Noons in May. Dunham (14-4) is in a similar predicament, having wrapped losses to the aforementioned dos Anjos and current top contender T.J. Grant around a victory over Gleison Tibau.
The Nov. 16 card, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, will serve as the UFC’s 20th anniversary show. So far, UFC president Dana White has attempted to live up to his word of stacking the milestone event. In addition to a welterweight championship matchup between Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks, other announced bouts include Rashad Evans vs. Chael Sonnen, Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler, Frank Mir vs. Alistair Overeem and Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley.
