Prosecutors in the Swiss canton of Neuchatel say they will lead investigations of alleged fraud and mismanagement involving disgraced Neuchatel Xamax owner Bulat Chagaev, who is reportedly on hunger strike in prison.
Neuchatel and Geneva authorities both opened probes into the Chechen businessman's activities in November.
Chagaev, whose trading company has offices in Geneva, is suspected of providing fake American bank letters purporting to show he had $35 million.
Chagaev was arrested in Geneva last Thursday, hours after Xamax was formally declared bankrupt and dropped out of the Swiss Super League.

His lawyer, Jacques Barillon, told Swiss broadcaster TSR that Chagaev has refused food and is being denied cigarettes.
