Aleksandr Shadrin's second-half goal gave Uzbekistan a 1-0 win at Japan on Wednesday in a World Cup qualifier between two teams that had already secured their place in the next round.
Japan goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima made the initial save on Bakhodir Nasimov's header, but Shadrin pounced on the rebound and slotted it home in the 54th minute.
Wednesday's result meant that Uzbekistan secured top position in Group C on 16 points, while Japan finished second with 10.
