CHICAGO (AP) The World Cup champion U.S. women's national team will play Colombia in an April 6 match in East Harford, Connecticut.
The team announced the opening match of its spring schedule on Tuesday. The U.S. women, ranked No. 1 in the world, are currently in Texas playing in the Olympic qualification tournament for the North and Central America and Caribbean region.
The United States has reached the semifinals and is considered a favorite in the field to secure one of the region's two berths for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
The last time the U.S. women played Colombia was in the knockout round of the Women's World Cup in Canada last summer. Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd each scored in a 2-0 U.S. victory en route to the title.
