David Trezeguet has left Juventus after 10 seasons and 171 goals with the Turin club.

Juventus announced on Saturday that the former France international's contract had been ended by mutual consent, adding that the player would announce his new club shortly.

Media reports indicate the 32-year-old Trezeguet will sign for newly promoted Spanish club Hercules in Alicante.

New Juventus president Andrea Agnelli bid Trezeguet goodbye on the club's website.

''I, like all Juventus fans, have a very strong bond with David and his 171 goals in 10 years,'' Agnelli said. ''There's no need to say anything about a player that averages 17 goals per year. It was a real love story and David will always remain in the hearts of all Juventus fans.''

Trezeguet struggled to get into the lineup last season and Juventus no longer wanted to pay his contract, which was worth ?4.5 million ($5.7 million) per season.

Taking a fresh approach under new coach Luigi Delneri, Juventus signed forward Fabio Quagliarella from Napoli on Friday.

Trezeguet won four Serie A titles with Juventus and two more that were revoked in the Italian match-fixing scandal. He missed a key penalty in a shootout to hand AC Milan the 2003 Champions League title, although penalties were never his strength. He was an expert finisher inside the area, often needing only one quick touch to score within the area.

Trezeguet showed his dedication to Juventus by remaining with the club when it was relegated to Serie B for 2006-07 for its role in the scandal.

He was Serie A's joint top scorer with 24 goals in 2001-02 and may have scored many more goals for Juventus had he not been often injured, undergoing numerous surgeries.
