Tottenham boss Pochettino plays down Hernandez speculation

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has played down speculation linking Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez with a move to the club.

Spurs are certain to be looking for reinforcements up front with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado expected to leave White Hart Lane, and Hernandez is among the players linked.

Pochettino, however, has attempted to quell the speculation.

"About Javier Hernandez, those are rumours and nothing more," the Spurs boss said.

"There is nothing concrete. He is a Manchester United player and logically a lot of names are getting suggested for Tottenham and Javier is just one more."

Hernandez spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, scoring nine goals, but United boss Louis van Gaal has hinted the 27-year-old will be given a chance at Old Trafford this season following the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.
