Thomas welcomes Baggies break
The Baggies were scheduled to face local rivals Wolves on Sunday but the match had to be called off following heavy snow in the area. While everyone at The Hawthorns would have liked the game to go ahead, Thomas believes the postponement could work in their favour. Leading scorer Peter Odemwingie will now have the opportunity to recover fully from a calf strain and winger Thomas says the entire squad will feel more refreshed. "It gives us an extra week to prepare for the Bolton game," he told the club's official website. "Peter had only trained two days and a couple of the lads have niggles so it gives them more time to recover. "It might be a blessing in disguise but then again Wolves had injury problems as well with their major threat Kevin Davies out, so it works both ways." Thomas is determined to help West Brom embark on a good run during the notoriously gruelling festive schedule. "It's going to be a busy period over Christmas and into January, especially with the FA Cup starting," he said. "I think we've got the strength in depth to cope but this break will probably do everyone good."
