Stuttgart's Daniel Ginczek out until new year with back injury

Stuttgart have suffered a blow with the news that Daniel Ginczek has been ruled out for the rest of the year with a back injury.

The 24-year-old forward suffered a slipped disc high up his vertebrae ahead of Stuttgart's 2-2 draw at Hoffenheim on October 3.

After consultation with the club's doctors and also some external specialists, it was decided that an operation was the best course of action.

Ginczek will go under the knife in Munich this Friday and will then be ruled out until at least the turn of the year.

"Stuttgart would like to wish our player a successful operation and subsequently a speedy recovery!" wrote the Baden-Wurttemberg club on their website.

Ginczek has managed just three goals so far this season for the stuttering Swabians, who are propping up the rest of the division with just four points from their first eight matches.

They play host to Ingolstadt on Sunday evening and will be hoping to bring an end to the Bavarians' unbeaten away record since gaining promotion to the Bundesliga, while picking up their first win at the Mercedes-Benz Arena this season after four straight defeats.

In the absence of Ginczek, Germany under-21 international Timo Werner is set to be given more of a game.
