Sparta suffer first-leg defeat
Mark Veldmate (61) and Sjaak Lettinga (77) scored for the hosts either side of Erik Falkenburg's effort (75). The second leg takes place on Sunday, with the winners going head to head over two legs with the winners of the FC Zwolle-Excelsior tie for a place in the Eredivisie. Excelsior took the advantage with a 1-0 win at Zwolle, Guyon Fernandez scoring the goal after 10 minutes. The other Eredivisie side in this year's play-offs, Willem II, came from behind to win 2-1 at Eindhoven. Leon Kantelberg opened the scoring after just two minutes, but Stefan Nijland (70) and Arjan Swinkels (80) turned things round in the second half. The winners of that tie look likely to face Go Ahead Eagles, who beat Cambuur Leeuwarden in their first leg thanks to an own goal from Robert Van Boxel (27) and Halil Colak's 52nd-minute strike.
