Rodwell admits disappointment
Despite signing a new long-term contract last summer, the England Under-21 international has started only 13 league games under David Moyes in what has been an injury-hit 2010/11. Rodwell, who has been persistently linked with a move to Manchester United, is frustrated that he has not fulfilled his potential at Goodison Park. But the midfielder, a member of Stuart Pearce's initial 40-man squad for this summer's UEFA European U21 Championship finals, is determined to respond. "You have just got to deal with it," said Rodwell at an event to launch the new adidas Predator boot in London. "I've had a lot of injuries this year and that happens. It is part and parcel of being a professional football. "You have just got to get over it and bounce back and try and get as many games as possible." Asked if he had wanted this to be a landmark season from a personal perspective, Rodwell said: "I was hoping, especially after a good pre-season. "I thought this could be the season where I cement myself in the team, but it hasn't been that way. "But the good thing about football is that the new season comes around very quickly, so I'm looking forward to it."
