West Brom have announced that Gera is to be sidelined for the 'foreseeable future' after scans revealed that he suffered a serious knee injury against Tottenham last Saturday. The Hungarian has already spent a prolonged period of time on the treatment table this season, with an ankle problem having troubled him since his summer return to The Hawthorns from Fulham. Reid is fully aware of what Gera is going through, having endured his own injury nightmares in the past, and he admits he is willing to offer a helping hand should his club colleague require a shoulder to lean on. "I am totally devastated for Zolly as a player and as a team-mate," he told the Baggies' official website. "It's a blow to the team but first and foremost your thoughts go out to him. We just hope his rehab goes well and he's back as soon as possible. "I've been in similar situations, where I've had long-term injuries, come back for a spell, and then been out with another problem. "If there is anything I can do to help him in his rehab then I will do. "He's a great lad. From the minute he has walked in he's been great. I didn't know him before but he is a breath of fresh air around the place and always has a smile on his face." Reid added: "I knew about his ability. I played against him a few times with Blackburn when he was playing for West Brom and Fulham. "I remember last season when he scored the goal that came off the back of Scott Carson. You could see his ability then. "It just felt like he was getting back into the swing of it in the last two games. He was superb against Bolton and started well again at the weekend. "It's a shame it's happened. He's going to be a big miss."
