Alejandro Bedoya was one of the revelations of the US men’s national team’s Gold Cup, and now he’s ready to take a big step forward in his professional career.

Bedoya will join Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers on a transfer from Swedish club Orebro after the clubs reached an agreement on a fee for Bedoya, who was set to leave the club this winter.

Bedoya was already set to join Rangers in January after reaching a deal on a pre-contract with the club and after secured a UK work permit on appeal, moves that helped put pressure on Orebro to strike a deal with Rangers after initially balking at a move.

Bedoya leaves Orebro after two seasons as a key starter for the club he joined after leaving Boston College and bypassing MLS for a move to Europe. The versatile midfielder thrived in a variety of roles, playing centrally as well as on the wing.

A late injury addition to this summer's US Gold Cup team, Bedoya went from being the last player to make the team to a key difference maker who earned a starter in the Gold Cup final against Mexico. His tenacity, speed and skill earned him valuable minutes in key matches and has helped boost his standing with the national team after having previously endured a rough stretch.
