Nigeria beaten 1-0 by Guinea in qualifier
Kevin Konstan scored an eighth minute winner as Guinea beat Nigeria 1-0 on Sunday in a 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier that went ahead after Nigeria's suspension from international football was temporarily lifted by FIFA.
The ban, imposed by the game's ruling body for what FIFA said was government interference in Nigeria's football federation, was lifted on Friday.
Nigeria dominated the first half in the Group B match but failed to make it count, with striker Michael Eneramo of Tunisian club Esperance missing a clear chance for an equalizer just before halftime.
Nigeria's caretaker coach Austin Eguavoen tried to put more bite into Nigeria's attack with the introductions of John Owoeri and Ahmed Musa in what was a more evenly-matched second half.
But the changes failed to deliver an equalizer and striker Obafemi Martins summed up Nigeria's luck when he broke free late in the game, only for his shot from inside the box to be scrambled away for a corner.
Nigeria's suspension has been lifted until Oct. 26 - giving the National Association of Nigerian Footballers time to fulfill a promise to drop a lawsuit that sought to annul recent federation elections. The lawsuit is scheduled to come to court on Oct. 25.
