New York Red Bulls Take Maximum Points Against the Whitecaps in Vancouver
The New York Red Bulls were victorious on Saturday night as they defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps by a final score of 1-0.
It was a big win for the New York Red Bulls as they stay right in the hunt for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. With their win over the Vancouver Whitecaps they move into second place and are only one point behind New York City F.C.
How it Happened
The first real chance of the match came in the 12th minute when Ronald Zubar’s header glanced wide right. A minute later the Whitecaps had their first chance when David Ousted found Cristian Techera downfield. Unfortunately, the Uruguayan couldn’t get a shot off as Sean Davis made up for his mistake by getting back to help.
Things got interesting right before halftime when Whitecaps manager The officials ejected Carl Robinson. As a result he could face the automatic one game suspension.

It only took four minutes into the second half for the Red Bulls to find a goal. Bradley Wright-Phillips tucked home his 17th of the year to give his side the advantage. The ball pinballed off of a defender and landed perfectly for the Englishman.
There were few real chances for the Whitecaps to level in the second half. Erik Hurtado hit the side netting in the 76th minute and sent a shot wide left in the 92nd minute. In the end Luis Robles was able to collect the clean sheet.

Up next the Red Bulls will face the D.C. United as they look to continue their winning streak. The Whitecaps will face the Columbus Crew next Saturday on the road.
