Nelsen thinking of Christchurch

The 33-year-old defender hails from Christchurch, and admits feeling 'helpless' watching Tuesday's disaster unfold in his home town. Rovers take on Villa in the Premier League at the weekend but Nelsen admits that he has had other things on his mind, with his family still living in the city. "I just feel so helpless. My family is OK. Everyone got through unscathed but my sister went into labour half an hour after the earthquake," he said in the Daily Star. "She was rushed into hospital. It was a struggle in the end but, thank God, she had a little baby boy." Nelsen has made 26 appearances for Blackburn so far this season as Steve Kean's men look to consolidate their position between now and the end of the campaign.
