MLS Week 31: All Goals From the Weekend

It was another exciting weekend of MLS action as we continue to get deeper into the final weeks of the season. Here are all 34 goals in Week 31. 

New York City F.C. vs. Chicago Fire 

Goal: Jefferson Mena (Eighth Minute)

This was a very well worked set piece as Ronald Matarrita and Kirby Shelton provided the assists. Mena also recorded his first MLS goal of the season with this finish.

Goal: David Villa (Ninth Minute)

NYCFC scored two goals in less than two minutes as David Villa coolly finished this opportunity. Khiry Shelton was credited with the assist.

Goal: Luis Solignac (35th minute)

The Argentinian striker recorded his fifth goal of the season on a well- timed run. Arturo Alvarez and Matt Polster were given the assists.

Goal: Steven Mendoza (44th Minute)

This was one of nicer goals scored this weekend. Mendoza curls this one beautifully past the keeper. Villa was given the assist on the goal.

Goal: David Villa (83rd Minute)

The brace was completed for Villa late in the match, and it was a thing of beauty, as he finished off another fantastic performance up top. Khiry Shelton had the assist.

Toronto F.C. vs. Philadelphia Union

Goal: Alejandro Bedoya (25th Minute)

The American midfielder scored his first goal in the MLS and it had to be one of the top goals of the week as well. You can’t get a more a more perfectly placed chip than this. Fabian Herbers had the lone assist.

Goal: Justin Morrow (70th Minute)

Morrow stepped up big for Toronto this weekend as he scored his first goal in over two months. Jonathan Osorio deserves a lot of credit for his assist on the goal.

New York Red Bulls vs. Montreal Impact

Goal: Daniel Royer (60th Minute)

The summer signing has been a great addition to the Red Bulls and came up big this weekend. This was his first ever MLS goal.

D.C. United vs. Orlando City

Goal: Patrick Mullins (34th Minute)

Mullins had a two-goal night for D.C. United and he just stayed onside for this goal. Patrick Nyarko and Taylor Kemp provided the assists.

Goal: Lloyd Sam (51st Minute)

Sam has been a great addition to D.C. United and he headed home his second goal of the season for them with this goal. Kemp recorded his second assist of the night with the cross.

Goal: Patrick Mullins (53rd Minute)

Mullins completed the brace with D.C. United’s second goal in two minutes. Nyarko got the assist for his second of the match.

Goal: Julio Baptista (72nd Minute)

This may have been the goal of the weekend, as Baptista produced a top drawer free kick. This was his fourth goal of the season.

Goal: Julian Buescher (90th Minute)

The German midfielder recorded his first ever MLS goal with the final tally of the game. Lamar Neagle and Kemp got the assists.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Colorado Rapids

Goal: Dominique Badji (Eighth Minute)

Badji finished this run of play with his fourth goal of the season. It wasn’t one of the prettiest goals of the weekend, but it gave his side an early lead. Sam Cronin and Marlon Hairston were credited with the assists.

Goal: Kendall Watson (51st Minute)

The Whitecaps equalized off of a set piece and Watson proved to be in the right place at the right time. Christian Bolanos was the provider of the goal.

Goal: Shkelzen Gashi (57th Minute)

Gashi was cool as ice as he tucked away this penalty. This would be his first of two goals in the match.

Goal: Pedro Morales (70th Minute)

This was a big goal for Morales as he ended a four month scoring drought. Erik Hurtado and Giles Barnes had the assists.

Goal: Shkelzen Gashi (75th Minute)

This free kick was an absolute stunner, as Gashi recorded his first brace of the season for the Rapids. Was this the goal of the week?

Goal: Erik Hurtado (93rd Minute)

It’s not over till it’s over. Erik Hurtado gives the home fans that stayed a reason to cheer with the late equalizer.

Houston Dynamo vs. Portland Timbers

Goal: Mauro Manotas (34th Minute)

Manotas started his incredible night off with this cool finish on a first half penalty. This was the 21-year-old forward’s second career MLS goal.

Goal: Diego Valeri (51st Minute)

Valeri had an easy tap in for his 13th goal of the season. He has now scored in three of his last four appearances.

Goal: Mauro Manotas (73rd Minute)

It’s Manotas who finds the back of the net again. Boniek Garcia gets the lone assist on the goal.

Goal: Mauro Manotas (85th Minute)

Manotas successfully records his first ever MLS hat trick with this finish. Cristian Maidana was given the assist.

Sporting Kansas City vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Goal: Dominic Dwyer (7th Minute)

Dwyer elevates to tuck this one away for his 15th of the season. Benny Feilhaber and Paulo Nagamura had the assists.

Goal: Simon Dawkins (42nd Minute)

It’s another set piece goal, as Dawkins ties the match up. Victor Bernardez and Henok Goitom were the providers.

Goal: Kevin Ellis (81st Minute)

If you like set piece goals, then you thoroughly enjoyed this match. Kevin Ellis deflects this one in for the match winner. Feilhaber and Ike Opara were the two involved with this goal.

Seattle Sounders vs. L.A. Galaxy

Goal: Robbie Keane (20th Minute)

Keane got his name on the scoresheet twice on Sunday. This first goal is headed home after a nice cross from Sebastian Lletget. Giovani dos Santos was also given an assist.

Goal: Jelle Van Damme (35th Minute)

Corner kicks can produce some wacky goals and Van Damme found that out first hand as he turns this one into his own net. This was the only own goal of the weekend.

Goal: Jordan Morris (63rd Minute)

The amazing rookie season of Morris continues with this nice finish into the top corner. Alvaro Fernandez had the lone assist.

Goal: Jordan Morris (73rd Minute)

This might be hard to believe, but this was Morris’s first ever brace in the MLS. He cleans up this rebound for his second of the match.

Goal: Osvaldo Alonso (78th Minute)

This was the goal of the match and it was a beauty from Alonso. Nicolas Lodeiro had the assist.

Goal: Robbie Keane (85th Minute)

Keane sends the goalkeeper the wrong way and picks up his second brace of the season. This was also his tenth goal of the season.

Columbus Crew vs. New England Revolution

Goal: Ola Kamara (42nd Minute)

This is a great finish from Kamara, the Norwegian striker has impressed many in his debut season in the MLS. Mohammed Saeid had the assist.

Goal: Ola Kamara (84th Minute)

For the second straight match, Kamara recorded a brace. His penalty taking skills have been superb for the most part, and he now has 15 goals to his name this season.
