Juan Carlos Cacho and Dante Lopez scored second-half goals Sunday to give UNAM Pumas a 2-0 home win against Santos Laguna in the second round of the Mexican Clausura championship.

Cacho scored with a volley following a corner in the 62nd minute, and Lopez outpaced the defense to add a second in the 82nd.

In Sunday's other match, Marco De La Mora opened the scoring with a 21st-minute strike for Guadalajara at Morelia. Rafael Marquez equalized for Morelia in the 71st.

In Saturday results, it was: Chiapas 2, America 2; Atlante 3, Cruz Azul 0; San Luis 3, Puebla 0; Pachuca 0, Toluca 0; UANL Tigres 1, Necaxa 0 and Atlas 2, Queretaro 1.

Reigning champion Monterrey lost its second straight match Friday, going down 3-2 at Estudiantes Tecos.

So far, San Luis and Atlas are the only teams with maximum points.

The Mexican league season is split into two halves, called the Apertura and Clausura tournaments, with the 18 clubs in the Primera Division arranged into three groups.

Each team plays each other once. The top two clubs from each group and two others with the best records in the general standings which have not qualified contest the end-of-season playoffs to decide the champion.

Cruz Azul, Monterrey and Santos, which finished in the top three positions in the previous tournament's general standings, are among the favorites to win the Clausura title.
