Malmo FF secured the Swedish league title on Monday, beating Elfsborg 2-0 in the penultimate round to clinch the club's 17th national championship.

Guillermo Molins scored both goals as Malmo kept its five-point lead in the table over runner-up AIK heading into the final round next weekend.

IFK Goteborg, Helsingborg and Kalmar are all in range for third place.

Malmo last won the title in 2010.

Unlike most of Europe, the Swedish league runs spring through fall to avoid playing during cold winter months.

Monday's match was played at Elfsborg's home turf in Boras despite severe weather warnings issued due to a powerful storm that battered parts of Europe, including Sweden.
