Real Mallorca leap-frogged Getafe into the top 10 of the Primera Division with a 3-1 victory at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

Goals from Victor Casadesus, Alejandro Alfaro and substitute Tomer Hemed put Mallorca in complete charge and Getafe could only manage a late consolation strike from Alexis.

The victory was Mallorca's third in their last four matches and kept alive their hopes of snatching a Europa League berth, but defeat was a blow to the European hopes of Getafe, who have now lost three of their last four.

After a quiet opening 10 minutes the match burst into life with both sides having opportunities within two minutes of each other, Victor firing over from close range for the visitors before Getafe defender Juan Valera saw a header strike the post.

Alfaro then saw an effort tipped over by former Mallorca keeper Miguel Angel Moya before the Balearic Island side took the lead on the half-hour mark when Victor headed home Tomas Pina's cross from the right.

Pina came close to making it 2-0 at the start of the second half with an effort that was tipped over by Moya, who then denied Gonzalo Castro from the resulting corner.

With Getafe struggling to create much at the other end, Mallorca knew the points were there for the taking and, moments after Castro had fired another chance wide, the visitors doubled their lead in the 68th minute with another header, this time Alfaro nodding in a cross from Emilio Nsue.

Soon after that Alfaro was replaced by Hemed, and the substitute needed just three minutes to make an impact as he fired home from Castro's pass to make it 3-0 with 12 minutes to go.

There was no way back for Getafe after that, although they at least got in the scoresheet when, in stoppage time, Alexis slotted in after Dani Guiza's shot had come back off the bar
